About

Stasis was the final presentation of Raya Kassisieh’s residency at Gallery 44, the first in the house. The exhibition brought her study of material, form and transformation to a close.

Stasis unfolded between stillness and movement, weaving together material, memory and form. Through a process of revisiting and reworking her own painted canvases, Raya Kassisieh deconstructed and reconstructed them into visceral new compositions. Goat-hair roses and woven canvases turn memory into form.
